The Comfort Colors 1566 crewneck sweatshirt has a relaxed, roomy fit. Chest width runs from 21 inches (53.3 cm) in size S to 29.5 inches (74.9 cm) in 3XL, and length from 27.5 to 32.5 inches (69.9 to 82.6 cm). Order your usual size for a relaxed look and 2 or 3 sizes up for an oversized look. Every custom pet sweatshirt we stitch on this crewneck uses the chart below.

What is the Comfort Colors sweatshirt size chart?

The Comfort Colors sweatshirt size chart lists chest width, length and sleeve for the 1566 crewneck in sizes S to 3XL, measured on the sweatshirt laid flat. The numbers follow the sizing table on the Comfort Colors 1566 product page, in inches with centimeters in brackets.

SizeChest width, in (cm)Length, in (cm)Sleeve from center back, in (cm)

Do Comfort Colors sweatshirts run big?

Comfort Colors sweatshirts run roomy rather than big. Comfort Colors cuts the 1566 with a relaxed fit, a side-seamed body and a rolled forward shoulder, so your usual size already feels loose. In the video below, a 5′8″ model who usually wears size M for a relaxed fit tries on sizes S to 2XL; going 2 or 3 sizes up, to XL or 2XL, gives her an oversized look.

Comfort Colors 1566 in sizes S, M, L, XL and 2XL on a 5′8″ model who usually wears M, with the chest width (W) and length (H) of each size.

Size down only if you want a closer fit. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.

How does the Comfort Colors 1566 compare with the Gildan 18000?

The Comfort Colors 1566 is heavier than the Gildan 18000 and a little roomier in the smaller sizes. Some of our sweatshirts let you choose either one, so compare them size by size:

  • Chest width: the 1566 is 1 inch wider in S, M and L, half an inch wider in XL, the same in 2XL and half an inch narrower in 3XL.
  • Length: the 1566 is half an inch longer in every size.
  • Fabric weight: 9.5 oz/yd² for the 1566 against 8 oz/yd² for the Gildan 18000.
  • Sizes: the 1566 stops at 3XL, while the Gildan 18000 goes up to 5XL.

The Gildan sweatshirt size chart has the full measurements of the Gildan 18000.

Do Comfort Colors sweatshirts shrink?

Comfort Colors sweatshirts shrink very little. The 1566 is garment dyed, which Comfort Colors says gives it a lived-in feel and almost no shrinkage at home. The fleece is 80% cotton, so a hot dryer can still tighten it slightly; wash it cold and tumble dry low, as our care guide for embroidered clothing explains. If it has already shrunk, our guide on how to unshrink a sweatshirt explains how to stretch it back.

How do you measure a sweatshirt to find your size?

To measure a sweatshirt, lay one that fits you well flat on a table and take 3 measurements, then match them with the chart:

  1. Chest width: measure straight across, 1 inch below the armholes.
  2. Length: measure down the back, from the top of the shoulder next to the collar to the bottom of the waistband.
  3. Sleeve: measure from the center back of the collar, over the shoulder and down the sleeve to the end of the cuff.

Pick the size whose chest width is closest to your sweatshirt, then check the length and sleeve columns if you are tall or have long arms.

What fabric is the Comfort Colors 1566 made of?

The Comfort Colors 1566 is made of 9.5 oz/yd² (about 322 g/m²) fleece: 80% ring spun US cotton and 20% polyester, with an outer face knit from 100% cotton threads. It has a 1×1 rib collar, cuffs and waistband. Each sweatshirt is dyed after it is sewn, so the color can vary slightly from one sweatshirt to the next. Comfort Colors makes the 1566 in sizes S to 3XL and 18 colors.

Can you exchange a sweatshirt for another size?

No. Every piece is made to order, so it isn’t eligible for a return or exchange because of a wrongly selected size (see our Refund Policy). Please check the chart before you order, and contact us if you are not sure which size to choose.
